Masters Fine Art Exhibition at UCA Canterbury 2013
The Masters fine art exhibition displayed the outcomes of projects that students had been working on over the duration of the course. Supported by Course Tutor Dr Terry Perk we came together as a group to curate and prepare the space.
The outcome of my project was a film that looked at the existence of Dreamland,My film, titled Fugitive Reflections, consists of several edited sections of found footage, it does not directly or indirectly identify the site, yet it is still identifiable through the anonymous faces and props constrained within the frame. Each contains a parallel line, flickering but untranslatable, briefly fading in and out between frames, providing both suspension and a form of temporal punctuation, the sound extracted from the films I felt too required additional editing, by working in collaboration with sound production Masters student Ollie Girvan at the University of Westminster, the sound is now synchronised to the sequences shown, sampled from the original narrative; the method of experimentation and editing aims to reinforce the act of suspension, delay and extension.
